COUNCIL MEMBER PATRICIA MCKIBBEN

I have lived in North Muskegon, with my husband, for 10 years. We chose North Muskegon as home because of the location and core principal values of this (between the calm waters) community.

What motivated you to run for City Council?
Community Encouragement initiated my candidacy for the North Muskegon City Council.  Re-elected and serving my second term, I am committed to representing the citizens of North Muskegon with fairness, respect and the highest level of government performance.

What do you like most about our community?
The rich history of our community, the beautiful location and four seasons make North Muskegon a fine place to live and a privilege to call home.  I am humbled by the warmth and welcoming nature of the people of North Muskegon.

As a Council Member, how do you foresee your role in making an impact on the quality of life of North Muskegon residents?
While serving on the North Muskegon City Council, it has been a honor to employ a new City Manager, a new Public Works Director and a School Enforcement Officer.  Serving on the Finance Committee, Planning Commission, Public Safety and Library Committee.  I continue to work toward responsible financial spending amidst an aging infrastructure.  Also, looking at leading practices in way of delivering services more cost effectively.  Future challenges are street, water and sewage, unfunded and underfunded liabilities, ordinance review and enforcement.  I value and foster the city relationship with our schools.  I look for immediate solutions within the long term for the growth and prosperity of our community.

What education and/or job experience do you think is relevant to your position on City Council?
Growing up on a wheat farm, I attended K-12 schools in Kansas.  I hold a B.S. and M.S. degrees.  My professional and community experiences has provided me with speaking, listening, negotiating and decision making skills.  My background as a School Principal, serving on a Federal Credit Union Board of Directors, and community involvement has given me experience in finances, human resources, management and communication skills.  Having worked in both the private and public sector gives me a unique perspective.  Demonstrating a strong work ethic (I also drove a wheat truck in Kansas), I will give my utmost to the community.

What other information about yourself would you like to share with the residents/general public?
Having the privilege to meet you in my door-to door campaign, you opened your doors, voices and hearts to me. As our journey continues, I look forward to further engaging with you.

COUNCIL MEMBER CHRIS WILSON

Chris Wilson

I love North Muskegon.  I have lived here almost my entire life.  I have always believed this is the ideal place to live and raise a family.  My wife and I have three daughters enrolled at North Muskegon Public Schools.  I am the owner of Core Services Group LLC, a consulting firm headquartered in Grand Rapids. I enjoy spending time with my family, running, snowboarding, rowing, and other outdoors sports.  I have also been coaching youth soccer since 2007

What motivated you to run for City Council?
Both my father and grandfather served the North Muskegon community and I was raised to “return the favor”. Everyone, rich or poor, takes from society and volunteering shows our sense of appreciation.  In addition, I have been urged to consider City Council by other board members and friends for several years.

What do you like most about our community?
Clearly, North Muskegon has fantastic natural resources.   That combined with our school system that consistently ranks in the top 98% in the state makes our city hard to beat. Most importantly the citizens of North Muskegon are what ultimately make it a wonderful place to live.  We are neighborly, welcoming, and we truly care about our city.

As a Council Member, how do you foresee your role in making an impact on the quality of life of North Muskegon residents?
Although I currently do not pretend to have a specific agenda, I have been inspired by the work of the current board.  I therefore plan to seek first to understand and develop my role as I go.

What education and/or job experience do you think is relevant to your position on City Council?
I attended North Muskegon Public Schools, and later Hope College and the University of London.  Experience is hard to quantify but I have owned and operated a consulting firm for the past 14 years.  Prior to that I worked for a consulting firm out of Chicago and General Dynamics here in Muskegon.  I have managed and participated in large projects for companies of varying sizes. I have a great deal of experience in business process improvement and project management.  For the past 3 years I have served on the Interlaken Board here in North Muskegon where I have had a positive impact primarily in the areas of maintenance and grounds.

What other information about yourself would you like to share with the residents/general public?
I am filling the role vacated by a former elected council member.  I have therefore been placed on the Council by the Council. I appreciate the faith that the North Muskegon City Council has in me.  I will do my best to meet or exceed their expectations.
