Planning Commission

The Planning Commission is an appointed body that makes recommendations on community wide planning issues and making recommendations or decisions on site plans. Site plan approval is the process by which a Planning Commission reviews a project that is permitted as a matter or right.

The North Muskegon Planning Commission meets the 2nd Wednesday of each month, as needed, at 6:00 p.m. Click to view members of the Planning Commission.

Site Plan Review is required for any structures and uses that can be expected to have a significant impact on natural resources, environmental quality, traffic patterns and the character of future development in the vicinity. It is the City’s belief that the end result of site plan development will allow plans to be properly reviewed for health, safety and welfare issues. In addition, many problems are often averted that may have cost the applicant and community additional time, energy and money.

If you are proposing a project within the City, contact Chris Hall, Building Official. He is available on Monday’s from 8:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. If he determines that site plan review is necessary, you may download the SITE PLAN REVIEW APPLICATION FORM AND CHECKLIST here.
