Chief Thomas P. Korabik
Chief Korabik became the 21st Police Chief for the City of North Muskegon on July 29, 2002.
Chief Korabik graduated from Ferris State College in 1978 with a B.S. in Criminal Justice. He began his Michigan law enforcement career when he was hired by the City of Flint in May of 1978. While serving with the Flint Police Department, Korabik worked as a uniformed patrol officer as well as a vice and narcotics officer.
In July 1989, Korabik was promoted to Sergeant. During his time as Sergeant Korabik supervised a vice unit and later served the Criminal Investigations Unit in homicide and sexual assault investigations.
In January 1998, Korabik was promoted to Lieutenant where he served as the commander of the Youth Services division and the Person’s Crimes division which included homicide, robbery, sexual assault, and domestic violence units.
During his career in Flint, Korabik attended numerous hours of additional training including the Eastern Michigan University of Police Staff and Command. He received two departmental commendations for bravery as well as several letters of recognition and merit for outstanding service.
In 2002, Korabik retired from the Flint Police Department and accepted the Chief of Police position in North Muskegon. Chief Korabik takes great pride in the service and safe environment the Police Department and its officers provide to the community.
